Starring Simon Pegg & Nick Frost; Directed by Edgar Wright. Written by Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright.
So, what is The World's End? It's a buddy reunion film about five childhood best friends who are roped into reliving one of their childhood goals: their hometown's Golden Mile. A bar crawl of 12 pubs in one night. They didn't make it all the way when they were younger and now, their ring leader, Gary Knight (Simon Pegg) is determined to finish it this time. Why? Because that was the best night of his life and his life has not turned out the way he wanted. But it's never as easy as that when you're in a Cornetto Trilogy. There were zombies in Shaun of the Dead, murderous townspeople who wanted to keep the peace in Hot Fuzz and now, there are Stepford-like robots in World's End.
*BTW Cornetto: are those ice cream cones.
In Shaun of the Dead, Nick Frost's character eats a red (strawberry) one
In Hot Fuzz, Nick Frost's character eats a blue (Original) one
And a green (mint chocolate chip) one flies and hits a chain-link fence in World's End.
It's said that the red symbolizes the impending blood and gore.
The blue represents police.
While green is representative of aliens. All of which symbolize each film.
It really is quite clever.

Maybe coffee and popcorn don't mix...but where else are you going to get MY view on movies?

TYLER PERRY
So, I intended to write a review on The Jungle Book. But this weekend, it seems like Tyler Perry's films are airing on constant rotation. So, that got me thinking... I love Tyler Perry's films. Madea Goes To Jail, Madea's Family Reunion, Diary of Mad Black Woman, I Can Do Bad All By Myself...and all of the others that I currently am drawing a blank to. The funny thing is, I don't think I fit his intended audience. Of course, I'm not a racist white guy, but all of these films are about African American women in Georgia who have to turn themselves around. Tyler Perry can write some amazing, heartfelt, inspiring, dark, funny and deep films/plays.

Rob Zombie films
I won't touch on this much. I have watched Rob Zombie movies and I am yet to be a fan.
Tonight, we watched House of 1000 Corpses which was not an easy feat to find available for rent. Personally, I liked Devil's Rejects better even thought it is more on a twisted level. There is something to be said about Rob Zombie's vision. While it is not my taste, he does stand by his convictions. He has a vision and he goes with it. As an artist, you have to respect it. He does not half-ass his art. But while it was not similar to his House of 1000 Corpses or Devil's Rejects (my favorite of the RZ films I've seen), the Halloween films were more mainstream and more his style.

Silent House (2012)
Silent House's movie trailer looked good and suspenseful if not not scary. A young woman (Elizabeth Olsen) is trapped in a house. Cue the jumps, bumps and active imagination...and scary bad guys. And from the buzz, it sounded exciting. The movie was made in one continuous shot--really, it was just a collection of really long takes that really felt to the untrained eye as if there were no cuts or edits. The main character of Sarah (Olsen) is helping her dad and uncle clear out their old summer house when her uncle and dad have a fight, her uncle leaves and not long after, her dad has been attacked in another room of the house.

Rocky Horror Picture Show (live)
I know, when it rains it pours with these movie blogs. But I've watched a total of four movies this weekend. I've already posted about one in the past. I just posted about another. And here goes for the third movie I've seen this weekend... Rocky Horror Picture Show!... This movie is not brand new but it is an experience every time I watch it. Especially when you see it performed LIVE!
Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D
Alright, so big movies are going to start popping up to make even more money off their franchise and fame...we all knew it would happen. I mean, Disney is doing it, James Cameron is doing it and now, George Lucas is getting in on this money-making scheme.
And even though I wish it were not a damper on the pocket book, I was excited to see Star Wars Episode I: Phantom Menace in 3D today. And while I don't know if I will see all of the others in 3D, I am glad that another generation gets to experience Star Wars. And believe me, there were plenty of young kids in the theater today. Plenty of parents and older generations sitting eagerly in line behind us.

Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil
You know those horror movies where the stupid college kids go camping and get attacked by the back woods hillbillies? Yeah, this movie is sort of like that...sort of. Except Tucker & Dale are the hillbillies and the college kids have it all wrong. Imagine that side of the story!

The Replacements (2000)
I just randomly re-stumbled upon this scene about 5 minutes ago and figured it'd be great to discuss.
I don't enjoy watching football. But movies about football? I seem to like those.
My favorite? The Replacements starring Keanu Reeves, Rhys Ives, Orland Jones, Gene Hackman, Jon Favreau...
Favorite scene? When they bond in the jail and start singing and dancing to I Will Survive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpCZzycMhPk

The Muppets (2011)
I know, two entries in one day! But it was a busy Christmas weekend.
The Muppets was fantastic! I felt like a kid again!

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
First and foremost, I HATE Tom Cruise. Honestly, he is my least favorite actor of all time and I try to avoid his movies like the plague.
That being said, I actually liked Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol as its own stand-alone movie well enough to give it 6/10.

Kinky Boots // Wristcutters: A Love Story
While I am an insane movie buff most of the time, I have gotten to the point where I am okay in just watching a movie for the sheer fun of it. I don't have to own every movie I enjoy...
Sometimes, however, that plan fails and there are movies that I watch and then repeatedly rent before I end up buying them. Two of those films are Wristcutters: A Love Story and Kinky Boots.
"Why am I leaving you? I'm afraid in this life, Lola has always been drawn to the most daring, most exciting, most...sexy. There is tell of a mystical place just north of here called North Hampton. Exciting, because it contains a shoe factory struggling to survive against all odds. Daring, because it's run by a man brave enough to recognize that a factory is its people, not it's bricks. And sexy, well, because now I work there. And the craftsman of fantasy, for ladies, gentlemen and those of you who are yet to make up your mind... tonight I give you The Kinky Boot Factory"

You forgot the first rule of remakes Jill: "Don't fuck with the originals".
Since I watched Scream 4 last night... Let's talk remakes...

Iron Man, Captain America & Thor! Oh My!
I am very excited for the Avengers movie when it comes out. Not only do I love Joss Whedon who is directing, I love Iron Man, comic book movies and the like.
Unlike my roommate, I loved the Iron Man series so far starring Robert Downey Jr and directed by Jon Favreau. My father was into the comic books and my roommate is now into them. I can relate to that culture quite well and every year plan my Comicon trip although the days fail me. My first favorite comic book film was Mystery Men. I also love Tank Girl very much.
But, Marvel is the mainstream right now. X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk...they're all working towards something even bigger: The Avengers. It's a big topic right now.

What Movies Spook You? What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
So, this entry is not one of a specific movie but a handful. What movies spook you? When it comes to October, I found myself really geared towards the Disney Channel or ABCFamily when I lived alone. Their stuff, while spooky, is not really scary. I have to avoid FX channel because they play The Strangers and Syfy and Chiller usually have the good, the bad and the B-movies in terms of horror and gore.
This year, I spent most of my spooks in front of the TV while watching the FX show American Horror Story and picking up a few films along the way like When A Stranger Calls and Teeth (which, Teeth isn't scary but a definitely cult classic). So, what movies really get me scared?

Attack The Block
The main bulk of the reviews I read comprised of everyone complaining about how thick the British accents were for the main characters. My thoughts? Challenge! Also, Nick Frost (who everyone should know as one part of the Shaun of the Dead / Hot Fuzz / Paul duo) is the only name actor in it. Give it some good reviews, hard to find release in theaters and a free Redbox rental and I'm renting it!
Of course, as soon as I popped the disc into the player, I couldn't remember what it was about. Zombies? Aliens? Bullies? What kind of a film was it that I was getting myself into? Is it an independent film? Is it a cheap British film? Is it even worth watching?
Yeah, I watched it.

TV Rots Your Brain, Like Crack Cocain
Okay. I’m supposed to rate movies…but unfortunately I’ve not watched anything new or anything note-worthy. I’ve just been trying desperately to clear out my DVR. Sure, there are some movies on there but I’m only about half an hour in to Delirious (<3 Steve Buscemi) and I haven’t even started Date Night.
So, with the influx of new TV shows and seasons, I could give you my rundown…

KILLING ZOE
First and foremost, let me explain that I have done little to no research on this film.
This movie has been on my radar since about 2002, I would say. However, I have only recently seen it a good ten or fifteen minutes ago in 2011. So, it has taken me a while to get around to watching it. All thanks to walking past it in the movie rental last week and bumping it to the top of my movie queue...but it started with Quentin Tarantino and Eric Stoltz...makes sense.

FRIGHT NIGHT
Just to make it clear, I've seen both the 1986 and the 2011 versions within the same time frame. And I will be as biased as possible (aside from David Tennant as Peter Vincent...I cannot personally be biased on that one).
Premise: A teenager (Charley) realizes his next door neighbor is a vampire (Jerry). He has a mom, a girlfriend (Amy), a friend (Ed) and there is a TV personality vampire killer (Peter Vincent).
